The ArtCentre of Plano’s season-opening celebration honoring the people and organizations who strengthen the arts in our community.
A celebration of people, art, and community
For the Love of Art is the ArtCentre of Plano’s annual evening recognizing individuals and organizations whose leadership, creativity, generosity, and service make a lasting impact on the arts.
This year’s celebration takes on a playful Halloween twist with Ghostly Capers—an evening of spirited encounters, food and drink, costumes, and surprises. The event also marks the opening of Art With Impact, a juried exhibition featuring 49 Texas artists.
One unforgettable evening
Two experiences. One season opener.
Ghostly Capers
A one-night celebration at the ArtCentre of Plano featuring honoree recognition, food and drinks, costumes, fundraising activities, and an interactive haunted-house story unfolding throughout the evening.
Art With Impact
A juried exhibition featuring 49 Texas artists, opening the same evening and remaining on view beyond the event. All artwork is available for purchase, with proceeds shared equally between the artist and the ArtCentre.
Honoring those who strengthen the arts
At the heart of For the Love of Art is recognition of individuals and organizations whose leadership, creativity, generosity, and service make a lasting impact on the arts in our community.
Jennifer Seibert
Arts Education Honoree
Learn More
Jennifer Seibert brings together the roles of artist, educator, mentor, and arts advocate. As a Professor of Art at Collin College, she teaches painting, design, and art appreciation, building on an academic career that has also included teaching and gallery leadership at Eastern Michigan University and Bowling Green State University. Her own work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and she remains deeply engaged in the North Texas arts community through public art, artist organizations, and board service.
For Jennifer, the arts teach us to pay attention—to places, to one another, and to things easily missed in everyday life. Through teaching, creating, and community involvement, she helps others develop that same habit of looking closely and thoughtfully.
James Gilbreath
Artist Honoree
Learn More
For more than six decades, James Gilbreath has built a life around making art. His long career has brought numerous honors and recognitions, including multiple Best of Show awards and recognition as Artist of the Year. Yet his own words suggest that what matters most is not the awards, but the community that develops around the arts.
James sees art as common ground. Whatever differences individuals may bring with them, he believes the arts give people a place to come together. That sense of shared experience—and a lifetime devoted to creative work—makes his recognition as this year’s Artist honoree especially fitting.
Horace M. Satisfield
Leadership Honoree
Learn More
Horace M. Satisfield has demonstrated a sustained commitment to leadership, service, and community involvement. His 55 years of membership and service with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. have included recognition as Omega Man of the Year and honors for service, brotherhood, and leadership. His community engagement also includes participation in civic programs through the City of Richardson.
Horace sees the arts as a powerful source of expression, confidence, understanding, and connection. He believes exposure to diverse artistic voices can encourage curiosity and empathy while strengthening civic identity and community pride. For him, thriving arts communities help create places where people of different backgrounds feel connected to one another and invested in the place they call home.
Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra
Organization Honoree
Learn More
For more than 28 years, the Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra has provided young musicians with opportunities to develop their abilities, experience orchestral performance, and build lasting connections through music. Along the way, DAAYO has received recognition from organizations including the National Endowment for the Arts and Texas Commission on the Arts, and its musicians have performed internationally in China, Austria, Japan, and France.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Nien Hsu, who has been with DAAYO for 14 years, the organization continues to focus on the long-term value of arts participation for young people. At the heart of its mission is a belief that music can foster accomplishment, appreciation, friendship, and a means of expression. Whether or not students ultimately pursue music professionally, their experiences can nurture a lifelong understanding of creativity and the value the arts bring to a community.
Lynda and Jim McDevitt
Patron Honorees
Learn More
Lynda and Jim McDevitt share a long record of supporting the organizations and people that strengthen the Plano community. Lynda’s service has included leadership and volunteer roles with the ArtCentre of Plano, Children’s Hospital, Leadership Plano, Junior League of Collin County, and other community organizations. Jim has also contributed through Volunteer in Plano, the Mayor’s Summer Program selection committee, and Leadership Plano. Together, their service extends to their church and the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation.
For Lynda and Jim, art is fundamentally about connection. It helps people share their stories, preserve memories, experience different perspectives, and find common ground. They see strong arts programs as a source of community pride—bringing together people of different ages, backgrounds, and interests.
Ellie Barash
Volunteer Honoree
Learn More
Ellie Barash has spent many years turning her enthusiasm for music into hands-on service. Her involvement with the Plano Symphony Orchestra has included leadership in its Guild, fundraising, communications, gala activities, office support, and the national Orchestras Feeding America food drive. Her broader volunteer work has also included continued service with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, where she was recognized as Elk of the Year.
Ellie has seen firsthand how the arts can reach people at every stage of life—from children discovering the excitement of making music to older adults responding to songs they remember. For her, music, painting, dance, theater, and other art forms bring joy and understanding while creating meaningful connections throughout the community.

The Ghostly Capers experience
This is where you can finally explain the evening's concept a little more fully.
Something like:
A little mystery. A little mischief. A lot of art.
Then 2–3 short paragraphs explaining that board members and staff become characters in an unfolding haunted-house story and interact with guests throughout the evening. Mention costumes here.
This is where the developing script/story belongs—not in the hero.
