Steve McDaniel — Santa Fe Countryside
2026, Acrylic, 30x24x1.5 in.
While living in the country of Morocco, I discovered my love for painting inspired by the lights and darks of this Mediterranean country along with the vibrant colors found in the magical souks in every city. Slowing down to take pictures, sketch, and paint allowed me to move beyond the tourist's eyes and be absorbed in a world different from my own.
To live with humility in another culture with an attitude of curiosity was my goal, and art provided a rich pathway to see and learn from another country and culture. Having returned to Texas to live after many years abroad, I'm now getting reacquainted with my home state and all of its beauty through the eyes of an artist.
