Karinda Condray — Naked Truth: Yearning
2026, watercolor on paper, 10x14 in.
I am a contemporary figurative artist working primarily in watercolor, using the human figure to explore vulnerability, identity and the tension between what is revealed and concealed. My figures function less as literal portraits than as psychological studies, often suspended between exposure and protection. Watercolor's fluidity, transparency and unpredictability mirror the instability of emotion. I build surfaces through layered washes, intentional blooms, and controlled edges balancing looseness with precision. Restrained palettes are punctuated by moments of intense color to heighten emotional resonance.
My years working in healthcare deepened my awareness of the private experiences people carry beneath outward appearances. Ultimately, my work seeks to turn emotion into form and private experience into something shared.
