Anna Fritzel — Yellowstone
2026, Ziatype over Pigment Print with stitching, 10x8x1 in.
My work in landscape photography is driven by a deep engagement with process—an intentional merging of contemporary digital photographic practices with historical photographic methods. Each image is created through use of Ziatype over pigment print, a hybrid approach that layers the precision and luminosity of modern pigment printing with the tactile unpredictability of the nineteenth-century palladium process.
This union of techniques becomes the true author of the aesthetic. While the landscapes I begin with are often bright, colorful, and familiar, the interaction between processes shifts them into something moodier, more elusive. Tones deepen, edges soften, and colors acquire a subtle patina that feels both timeworn and strangely vivid. The result is a visual tension, an image that is both radiant and veiled.
In this space between clarity and mystery, the work invites a different kind of engagement.
